WHAT IS A GRINDER?
Grinder is nothing but a small, handy device used for grinding dried herbs and hemp. It usually consists of two parts that resemble a yo-yo when joined together. But don’t let this fool you, because inside there is a special chamber for dried hemp, which is filled with spikes or small squares, which, when you start twisting them, can crush even the largest hemp buds.
WHAT ARE THE TYPES OF GRINDERS?
Grinders can be divided depending on the number of chambers for dried material and the fabric from which they are made. Taking into account the number of chambers, we can classify grinders as the following:
Two-chamber grinder – classic grinder consisting of two parts;
Three-chamber grinder – consisting of a grinding chamber and a separate chamber for the dried herbs;
Four-chamber grinder – equipped with a grinding chamber, a chamber for dried material and a chamber with a special strainer separating dust from the dried material;
Five-chamber grinder – it is different from the four-chamber thank to an additional container for storing herbs.
However, if we take into account the material from which a given grinder was made, we can distinguish grinders:
Metal grinders – metal grinders are the most popular grinders available on the market, durable and easy to clean;
Wooden grinders – solid, aesthetically pleasing grinders which are perfect as a gift;
Plastic grinders – the cheapest grinders available on the market, best for people starting their adventure with smoking hemp;
Ceramic grinders – strong, durable grinders which, thanks to the ceramic coating, do not allow the herbs to stick to the walls of the chamber.
The size is also important when choosing a grinder. These start at 30 mm and can go up to 60 mm. However, the size does not affect the quality of the dried hemp.
HOW TO USE A GRINDER?
The use of the hemp grinder is simple and very intuitive. No matter how many chambers a given grinder has, it is enough to open the one with the grinding mechanism and fill it with herbs (larger buds can be divided into smaller parts). Then close the cover and press down firmly. The next step is to make a few left and right movements, thereby turning the grinding chamber. Depending on the intensity of the turning, the ground dried material may differ in structure. Nevertheless, the grinding process should not take more than a few seconds.
GRINDER – WHICH ONE SHOULD YOU BUY?
Whichever type of grinder you choose, it’s worth keeping the brand in mind. Storz & Bickel grinders, which you can find in our online store, have a good opinion. From the more expensive options, we recommend RAW grinders, which you can also buy at Cannabis Spot.
HOW DO I CLEAN THE GRINDER?
The process of cleaning a grinder will vary depending on the material it is made of. Considering the best known – metal grinders, you should put them in the freezer, wait a few hours, and then take them out. Thanks to this treatment, the remnants of dried herbs sticking to the walls of the chamber under the influence of low temperature will easily go away and you will be able to pour them out.
Then disassemble the grinder into parts and clean each of them using a toothbrush or a special brush for cleaning vaporizers. The next step is to soak the grinder in isopropyl alcohol, which will effectively remove the dried hemp residues. After that, you will have to rinse the individual elements of the grinder under a hot stream of water and dry it with a dryer or let it dry on its own.
Isopropyl alcohol is not recommended for use with wood or plastic grinders. It is true that it should not react with the material itself, but it can dissolve graphic elements and varnish, which is often layered on the wood. In these two cases, dry cleaning will be a much better solution.
WHICH GRINDER WORKS BEST FOR CBD HEMP?
For people who enjoy the benefits of CBD while vaping, we recommend 3- and 4-part grinders, especially if you use a convection vaporizer and 2-part grinders in the case of a conduction vaporizer. This is due to different methods of heating the hemp. In convection vaporizers, the herbs are heated with the use of a stream of hot air through the chamber, so if the herbs are ground too finely, it could clump and interfere with this process.
In conduction vaporizers, finely ground dried herbs and hemp are the best, because it is heated by contact with the walls of the heating chamber (the more heated they get, the more active substances you get). If we use a hybrid vaporizer, the principle is similar to the above, we just need to know the advantage of the solutions we deal with.
The grinder is meant for grinding dried hemp and herbs. It consists of two separate halves covered on the inside with spikes or cubes, which, after joining and turning them several times, break up the herbs into smaller parts. Depending on the number and intensity of twists, the hemp can take the form of small threads or loose dust.
In our store you will find hemp grinders made of metal, wood, acrylic, plastic and aluminum. They are distinguished by an affordable price, good workmanship and a wide range of designs and colors.
